Hilda served as treasurer for a public electric utility in Caracas, Venezuela before moving to the US.

Hilda served as the Chief Investment Officer at the Pension Investment Division at the World Bank from 1976 to 1987 and continued as a Manager of the World Bank Pension assets until 1996. She also served as an Asset and Liability Advisor to the World Bank.

Strategic Investment Group

Hilda is the founder and former CEO and Chairman Emeritus of Strategic Investment Group, an investment management strategy firm with $28 billion in assets under management as of December, 2018.

She founded Strategic Investment Group after 12 years working as the Chief Investment Officer within the World Bank’s Pension Investment Division. During that time, she developed innovative strategies for realizing gains for institutional asset portfolios. Hilda founded Strategic Investment Group to bring her strategies to market and as a way to equip and empower asset managers at other companies and institutions.

Hilda launched her company in November 1987 despite the fact that the economy was still reeling from the stock market crash of October, 1987 on so-called “Black Monday.”

“I was in a state of panic, thinking the world as I knew it might have come to an end,” Hilda told the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. “I’ve always said that I discovered, at the time, that fear is a much better motivator than frustration.”
